Holiday Health- AFC Urgent Care

The last trick-or-treaters have devoured their newfound candy riches, the first Thanksgiving family gatherings are already beginning to come together and Christmas music is being played in every store across America. So with festive meals and family traditions on the horizon, how can you stay healthy? Well, it takes a little bit of extra effort and a lot of perseverance, but it is worth it. Here are three ways to bring good health to the holidays: 1) Active Traditions Want to start a new tradition for your family? Consider taking part in an active tradition, such as the community 5K or a Thanksgiving game of football. Incorporating an active element in your traditions not only keeps you physical active, but it also sets a great example for the family. 2) Healthier Food Choices Although some meals, such as Thanksgiving lunch, are bound to be a little on the indulgent side, there are small steps you can take to help replace the negative side of consumption. Be proactive about your food choices. Fill up your plate with fruits, vegetables and lean protein. Once you’ve filled up on the “good stuff,” treat yourself to those items you can’t get at other times of the year, such as your aunt’s special pie. 3) Happy Hearts Many recent studies have shown a positive link between gratitude and health, with an optimistic, grateful outlook bringing better health for those who bear it. Gratitude has been linked with better physical and mental health, increased self-esteem, and even better sleep. Holidays are an incredible to time to pause, think and be thankful for all the blessings in your life. Want to learn more about how to stay healthy this holiday season? Visit our website today!
